New Air Traffic Control Tower

The design of the new Air Traffic Control Tower is complete and the project is awaiting distribution of the Federal and State Grant Funding. Construction is expected to start with in the next couple of months and to take approximately 9 months to complete.

The control tower will stand 75’ tall as compared to the existing 43’ control tower. The new control tower will be constructed just 35’ north of the existing control tower.

McCollum Field is owned by Cobb County, operated by the County Department of Transportation characterizing it as a municipal airport. It is managed by a full-time, professional airport manager. The airport employs almost 185 people, and had an annual economic impact of more than $47 million to the local economy in 2002.
